Some Thoughts on the Week 5 NFL Action

I believe the 49ers are the real deal. But before I get to that here are some thoughts on the Week 5 NFL action. Right now the New England Patriots are the exact opposite of the 49ers. After back-to-back blowout losses the Patriots look dead in the water. Mac Jones gets no help from his offensive live. But he also makes poor decisions with too many of his passes. What Bill Belichick is going to do to right the ship I have no idea. Some are saying the game has passed him by and a new coach/GM are needed. In any case, owner Robert Kraft may have a tough decision to make in the not too distant future.

As I said, I think the 46ers are legit and the team to beat. At 5-0, they and the Eagles are the last two undefeated teams. Brock Purdy doesn’t get the same attention as Jalen Hurts but he is playing equally well. He has thrown for 1,271 yards, averaging over 9 yards per attempt, and zero interceptions. The Eagles and 49ers are set to clash in week 13. I’ll be marking that one on my calendar.

It appears London is good to the Jaguars as they edged out the Bill 25-20. The Bills were slow to get going and I wonder if jet lag may have been issue. They arrived in London on Friday and the Jaguars had already been there over a week. Not saying that’s why they lost but it could have been a factor. We’ll have to see how the Bills bounce back in their next game.

Detroit is still dominating with their blowout win over the Panthers. However, turnovers by the Panthers led to 21 points for Detroit. You can’t win games playing like that. Meanwhile Cincinnati rebounded nicely with a 34-20 victory over the Cardinals. We’ll see if they can build on the win.

Some Thoughts on the Week 5 NFL Action

Baltimore and Pittsburgh had their usual street brawl. The Ravens had a small lead but couldn’t hold on to it. Pittsburgh showed their steel city toughness and gutted out the win. Baltimore couldn’t get any production but had too many negative plays. They had an interception, fumble and turnover on downs in the fourth quarter. Not how you want to finish a game.

Kansas City beat the Vikings by a touchdown. The offensive production of the QBs were similar. However, Kirk Cousins and his receivers had too many incompletions. On the opening drive the Vikings fumbled the ball leading to a Chiefs touchdown. If the Vikings want to win they have to develop some consistency.

Tonight’s action features Green Bay @ Las Vegas. Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to play for the Raiders. I hope both teams bring their A game.
