Some Close Call Games In Early NFL Sunday Action

Can you believe we’re already in Week 13 of the NFL Season? The action heated up with some close call games in early NFL Sunday action. Sadly the Chargers at Patriots was not part of the action. It was a game of punts with a couple of Chargers field goals thrown in. With two minutes left the Patriots had a chance to win but couldn’t close the deal and lost 6-0.

Detroit took on the Saints in New Orleans. The Lions got off to a great start scoring a touchdown on their opening possession. Their defense followed up with an interception of Derek Carr on the Saints first possession. Detroit took advantage and scored another touchdown. The Saints fought back from a 24-7 deficit scoring 21 points in the second half. But the Lions held on for the 33-28 victory.

The Falcons went to New York to take on the Jets. Not much offense took place in the game. Atlanta had less than 200 yards total offense whereas the Jets had 259 yards. There was nothing but punts until the Jets scored a safety with less than 2 minutes left in the first quarter. Desmond Ridder threw the only touchdown pass of the game and secured the 13-8 win for the Falcons.

Miami Dolphins went on another scoring spree. They defeated the Commanders 45-10. Sam Howell was sacked three times. Going into the game they Commanders led the league in sacks allowed with 55. Clearly that’s not a winning formula.

In spite of the game delay due to weather the Cardinals got the win over the Steelers. Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett was injured in the second quarter and was replaced by Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky fumbled in the third quarter and the Cardinals recovered it and score a touchdown. Cardinals won 24-10.

Tennessee lost a tough one to Indianapolis. The Titans could have taken a one point lead in the fourth quarter but the extra point was missed. In overtime the Titans scored a field goal. But Gardner Minshew hit Alec Pierce for a 55 yard reception. Michael Pittman caught the winning touchdown. It was a tough 31-28 loss for the Titans.

Another close call and tough loss belongs to the Broncos. Russell Wilson didn’t have his mojo today and was off on too many throws. Their defense kept the score low enough to keep them in the game. But Wilson threw three interceptions. The last one was with :16 seconds on the clock on the Houston 8 yard line. It was 3rd & 8 so they would have had one more chance if they didn’t convert. But it wasn’t meant to be and the final score was 17-22.
