Shohei Ohtani at the 2024 DodgerFest -Gives Update on His Swinging
A sea of blue and white as far as the eye could see. However, one figure still stood out, and above the rest, among the masses. The $700 million man, the modern Babe Ruth. Yes, it was exciting to witness Shohei Ohtani at the 2024 DodgerFest held at Dodger Stadium in downtown LA.
The event kicked off at 11 in the morning and ran till 3:30 in the afternoon. And even with the Dodgers charging for tickets for the first time; it did not stop fans from coming out and braving the cold; plus rainy weather. DodgerBlue.com reports,
“[The] 2024 DodgerFest at Dodger Stadium is headlined by Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. [It] also includes general manager Brandon Gomes and manager Dave Roberts being among those scheduled to appear.
DodgerFest sold out, with the Dodgers announcing 35,000 tickets were purchased. This year is the first time the team charged in order to enter the event, formerly named Dodgers FanFest.
DodgerFest at Dodger Stadium was subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. [However] the forecast showed a break in the rainstorm, allowing the event to continue on.”
And the Dodgers franchise carried on indeed. Fans got to enjoy a meet and greet; behind the scenes experiences, games, photo ops; center field stage show with interviews and the annual yard sale. They also got to get a glimpse of Ohtani in Dodgers garb, live and in the flesh.
Shohei was thrilled to be in attendance and even gave a quick update on his batting abilities since having surgery. Shohei tells Sports Net LA,
“It’s my first time standing in front of all the Dodger fans with my Dodgers jersey on, it’s a great feeling and I can’t wait.
As far as the hitting goes, I’m already swinging close to 100% so I feel like as long as everything goes as planned I should be ready for Korea the Opening Day.”

That’s awesome. Sounds like Ohtani is progressing very well in terms of his recovery. Moreover, LA Times writer, Mike DiGiovanna, also backs up Ohtani’s positive sentiments. DiGiovanna states,
“Shohei Ohtani [tells the media at DodgerFest] he is ‘very confident’ he will be ready for opening day with Dodgers in South Korea.”
Therefore, Shohei is looking ahead and forward to the future. For the next decade he will be a Dodger and he is pushing for results. Doug McKain, a Dodgers Nation host relates Ohtani’s thoughts,
“Shohei Ohtani on what he would consider to be a successful next 10 years with the Dodgers:
‘The only choice is winning the World Series. That’s every team’s goal, and it’s definitely one of ours. That’s the biggest one.’”
Great goal to have. Moreover, DodgerFest is a festival to get the fans going for the new season. However, Shohei Ohtani seems to be just as hyped. To not only be ready for what lies ahead; but to do his part in order to successfully help bring another World Series win to Los Angeles.
