Shedeur Sanders Shares History With Tom Brady—Achieves Stat Not Seen in 75 Years

Rookie Shedeur Sanders will continue as the Cleveland Browns’ starting QB for the remainder of the season, coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday. He is coming off the best game of his young career, accounting for 394 total yards and four touchdowns. Speaking of 300+ yards, Shedeur Sanders also now shares some interesting history with the GOAT, Tom Brady. Since the merger only two quarterbacks have thrown for exactly 364 Pass Yards in their 3rd career start. Seven time champ Tom Brady and now Sanders.

Now that’s cool in itself, but Sanders achieved something else interesting Sunday versus the Titans. A pretty wild stat. Shedeur is the first Browns QB with at least 300 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, and a rushing TD in a game in over 75 years. Yes, the last time a Browns quarterback did this was back in 1950! As we said, wild.

On Monday, Cleveland’s head coach held a press conference discussing various team components and plans. While Kevin Stefanski would not answer if it was a mistake not to start Shedeur Sanders earlier in the season. Stefanski did confirm that Shedeur Sanders is his starting quarterback for the rest of the season. And even paid the rookie a very nice compliment. Saying that the QB “has constantly and consistently gotten better in each one of these games. So I feel very good about where his development is heading. He’s very intentional about getting better.”

Furthermore, despite the negative narrative of Browns players “supposedly” not being behind Sanders. One team member made sure to clear the air and set the record straight. Monday afternoon Browns DE Alex Wright took time to speak on QB Shedeur Sanders being named the starter for the rest of the season and the energy he brings. Wright mentions,

“He’s always that happy-go-lucky person in the locker room. When I come into the facility, I see him in the office every day with Stefanski. He’s a poised rookie. We’re going to be behind him.”

Awesome. Great to know they’re all united and supporting each other. As one can see, Shedeur has earned the right to start the last month of the season. We are sure the next few games will continue to give Sanders the experience he needs to grow as a NFL and franchise quarterback.
