Then, this new league is going to be right up your basketball alley. Shaquille O’Neal and TNT Sports are launching a professional dunking league dubbed ‘DUNKMAN.’
The inaugural DUNKMAN season will feature 24 of the best dunkers competing live in a brand-new league format. There will be 4 group stage events culminating in the DUNKMAN World Championship with a Grand Prize of $500K. This will be the world’s first professional dunking league commencing in the summer of 2026.
Who will be helming things as the commissioner of this new league? Well, it will be Shaq himself. Shaquille O’Neal is all set to step in as commissioner of ‘DUNKMAN,’ overseeing all matters and aspects of this new global competition platform that will feature 24 elite dunkers.

The league introduces an Olympic-style scoring system and a season-long format designed to give pro dunkers consistent exposure beyond traditional one-night contests. Shaq confirmed this information to KD’s Boardroom platform. Shaquille O’Neal revealed, “[It is] the best vs. the best, across five live events, using an Olympic-level scoring system, and putting up the biggest prize money in dunk history. The best dunkers aren’t just in the NBA anymore. They’re all over the world and I wanted to find out who the GOAT really is.”
Well, soon we all will know. Moreover, hoops fans will not have to wait long in order to see the world’s best dunkers in action. Just a couple of months. And it will be easy for sports fans to catch all of the competition; for the league will be available on a plethora of common networks and streaming platforms as well as services. Events will air across TNT, TBS, TruTV, and HBO Max. With additional content on Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, and YouTube.
