Seattle Seahawks And Julian Love Agreed To Extension
Good grief the signings just keep coming this week in the NFL. Now it’s time to check in with the Pacific Northwest. We’re seeing that the Seattle Seahawks and safety Julian Love have agreed to an extension. NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported: “Source: Safety Julian Love and the Seahawks reached agreement on a three/year extension worth up to $36 million. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, Jason Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha.”
Love was drafted by the New York Giants with the 108th pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent four years with the Giants before signing a two-year, $12 million contract with the Seahawks in March 2023. He posted impressive numbers last season with 123 tackles, 10 pass breakups and four interceptions.
As noted on the Seahawks website, Julian has had a definite impact on the team. In his first season with the team, Love went on to have his first Pro Bowl season and most recently earning himself a spot in the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2024, coming in at No. 95.
Love was at practice today and immediately made his presence known, coming up with a pick on a third-and-four play. Making plays like that shows why the extension got done. And he will avoid hitting the free agent market again.
“It’s exciting,” Love said on the extension. “Obviously, it’s security for me and my family and just the belief the program has in me.” At just 26 years old with lots of experience, he figures to be a key part of the defense going forward.

Head coach Mike Macdonald also likes what he sees from Love. “Just really excited for him. I think it’s a shout out to him and the type of person that he is, the type of football player. Definitely the type of guy that we want here and just excited for him. He’s worked his tail off and hopefully he’s found a home here in Seattle for a long time.” Macdonald said.
With the changes on defense, Love has stepped up as a leader and voice in the locker room for Macdonald. Love is looking forward to helping in that capacity. “You feel good when the guy you’re playing for trusts you and believes in you… I’m excited to play for him and to obviously now earn what I have going forward.”
