Seahawks Geno Smith Leaves Game Versus the Packers Due to Knee Injury
Not what you want to see. Seattle’s quarterback made it through a good chunk of the game before disaster struck. On Sunday night, the Seahawks Geno Smith leaves the game versus the Packers due to a knee injury. Geno exited stage right from the matchup halfway through the third quarter.
Smith had just put the Seahawks in scoring position with a 22-yard pass to Tyler Lockett. But on first-and-10 from the Green Bay 24, Smith jumped up as he delivered an incomplete pass. He was hit low by linebacker Edgerrin Cooper. However, the referees ruled that there was no foul on the play since both of Smith’s feet were in the air.
Brady Henderson who covers the Seattle Seahawks for ESPN was among the first to report on the Smith injury situation. At the time Henderson mentioned how the Seahawks planned to complete the game and the latest on Geno. He reveals,
“Sam Howell is getting ready to lead the Seahawks’ next drive. Haven’t seen Geno Smith return to the sideline since he limped into the tunnel after Seattle’s last drive. Officially, he’s questionable to return with a knee injury.”
But a hopeful sighting of Smith would eventually be had. He had a bit of a limping skip as he made his way back to his team on the field. Also, Geno was walking under his own power with no assistance. Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune confirmed Geno’s return appearance and gave a quick update on the Packers versus Seahawks game since Smith’s departure. Bell states,
“Limping Geno Smith returns to Seahawks after getting checked in locker room for a knee injury. Meanwhile, offense goes 3 and out with 2 sacks of backup Sam Howell. Seattle punting to begin the 4Q down 23-6 to the Packers.”

Things would not improve for Seattle. The Seahawks would go down in defeat, losing to the Green Bay Packers, 30-13. The Packers now improve to a 10-4 record; while the Seahawks will now hover at 8-6.
After the game’s conclusion Seahawks’ coach Mike MacDonald provided a brief update on Smith. MacDonald says, “We’ll do all the tests tomorrow. Structurally it looks like it’s OK. [I] don’t know whether Geno will have to miss time. Tests will determine that.”
