Seahawks Defended Their Nest in Win Over Eagles
Jalen Hurts had his Eagles working efficiently, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive. But it wasn’t enough as the Seahawks defended their nest in a win over the Eagles. The Eagles went on to score a field goal on their third possession. So things were going well in the first half.
Geno Smith was active but didn’t start at quarterback for the Seahawks. The nod went to Drew Lock instead. And he played well, getting the offense down the field. They scored a field goal on their third possessions. The first half flew by until the last two minutes. It was penalties and punts but no scoring. So at the half the score was 10-3.
I don’t know what was with the false start on Eagles center Jason Kelce in the second quarter. On the replay I didn’t see any movement. On the Manningcast, Peyton said he thought his beard brushed the ball so that must be what they called. Lol, I couldn’t agree more.
Anyway the Seahawks got the ball to start the third quarter. They had excellent execution moving the ball smoothly down the field. Kenneth Walker ran the ball 23 yards for the touchdown. The Eagles answered the call with a touchdown of their own. After that the action slowed down with both teams punting. But the Seahawks kept fighting and scored a touchdown.
With the score being 17-13 the Eagles defense made some plays and it looked like they might hold on for the win. I thought the Eagles would have run the ball to drain the clock. However, they ran once and threw it three times. Hurts was intercepted on a deep ball. However, the Seahawks went three and out and the Eagles got the ball back with 6:35 on the clock.

This time they ran the ball and ate up some clock. Yet on 3rd & 7 they threw the ball and it was incomplete. When Seattle got the ball back they had 1:52. That was all they needed for the go-ahead touchdown. Congrats to Drew Lock on getting his first win. He and his teammates played for sixty minutes.
As for the Eagles, their offensive play calling was questionable and not really effective. Also, their defense was inconsistent. At times they couldn’t stop the run or the pass. At other times they were on the money. Since it was Matt Patricia’s first time heading up the defense that may have had something to do with it. Only time will tell but they have to play better on both sides of the ball.
