San Diego Wave 2023 NWSL Shield Champions-The Ladies Are Playoff Bound!
These ladies are HER!! The San Diego Wave 2023 NWSL Shield Champions are the real deal and are making America’s Finest City proud. The Wave FC is officially playoff bound and will play in the Semi-Finals beginning on November 5th.
To get to the semis, the National Women’s Soccer League west coast team went through a battle with the Racing Louisville FC. However, the Wave goes full domination mode, putting the game away 2-0. And what better way to end things, but with a goal by the one and only Alex Morgan. Morgan also hit a milestone, achieving 60 NWSL Goals.
Nevertheless, it is amazing to see how far the Wave ladies have come in such a short amount of time. This expansion women’s futbol club was founded in the summer of 2021, on June 8. Furthermore, the Wave FC began regular in the 2022 season. And now just one year later, the franchise is now Shield Champions. Amazing.
Moreover, the team is not without plenty of support. San Diego has come out in full force in order to cheer on the Wave FC’s talent filled roster. For instance, in the game that sent the club to this year’s semifinals; the total attendance was 30,312.
Not bad for a stadium that holds up to 32,000. Yes, the locals are filling Snapdragon to the very brim and they have plenty to be thrilled about. The Wave FC has a legit chance to bring the city of San Diego a bright, shiny championship and title.

Molly Downtain, the General Manager who has done an amazing job building and creating a winning core; states regarding the team’s big playoffs bound win,
“So proud of what this club and these players have been able accomplish in just two years! This group, this city and our fans are unreal. Let’s go San Diego.”
Alex Morgan too shared some thoughts about getting the shield and receiving love from San Diegans. She says,
“San Diego, thank you so much for showing up tonight. And every single game this season so far. You guys are so huge.
In this winning the shield. And we can’t wait to keep going all the way. November 5th Semifinals here. Finals November 7th!”
