San Diego Aztecs Defeat Alabama: The ‘Tide’ is Turning!

History is being made right before our eyes and this is only the beginning! The San Diego Aztecs defeat Alabama in an impressive appearance during the sweet 16 tourney. The ‘underdog’ team took on the highly favored Crimson Tide basketball organization and instead of getting rolled; the Aztecs put the tsunami down in a 71-64 win.

The game begins as an all out battle. Back and forth, back and forth. However, towards the very end the Aztecs take the lead and hold onto it.

To the city of San Diego, however, the final seconds seem like an eternity. Will the boys be able to hold out and break the barriers of history? Becoming the first roster in San Diego college basketball history to make it to the elite 8?

We held our breath. The final shots were taken. We exhaled and WON BABY!

Nevertheless, San Diego’s win should not come as a surprise to any real sports fan. The Aztecs have been putting in the work and effort necessary to be an elite team as well as organization. Coach Brian Dutcher keeps making this point clear in many interviews.

Dutcher says that the Aztecs culture of winning and wanting to win more is nothing new. The university has been building this dominate attitude for years; and now their commanding attitude and leadership ideals are front and center for the entire college realm to see. Breathe it in everyone!

This victory is absolutely amazing for San Diego sports. San Diego is a pure sports town. We love our guys, our teams and we enjoy every single triumph.

Moreover, we want titles. We want championships. And we are seeing an exciting wind of change that is leading straight to the top!

Even after the sting of the Chargers skipping out of town; San Diego sports are still thriving and excelling. For instance, during 2022, the Padres defeat two 100 win teams and narrowly miss a showing in the World Series. Plus, they got even BETTER during the offseason picking up Xander Bogaerts, Matt Carpenter and getting a long term contract done with Friar superstar, Manny Machado. Additionally, the baseball team is eagerly awaiting the return of ‘Dodger Killa;’ Fernando Tatis Jr. who made a splash during spring training with 2 huge home runs.

Now, college basketball is getting into the winner circle mix with a win against Alabama. The San Diego Aztecs will go down in history as knocking off the number one overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and is now heading to the Elite 8 for the first time in ever! Amazing.

As Coach Dutcher says this is the culture. This is the winning culture and mentality of San Diego sports. The new wave… so watch the wins keep rolling in!
