Royals Claim Tommy Pham and Robbie Grossman Off Waivers
Kansas City took a look at all the athlete inventory available and they came across some talent that they really like. Now the ball club has officially made a few roster moves. The Royals claim Tommy Pham and Robbie Grossman off of waivers.
Grabbing a few guys is showing that the Royals are going all out in order to stay in the playoff hunt and race. The last month of the regular season begins tomorrow and they are ready. Currently, the franchise is sitting in the second American League wild card spot with a record of 75-61.
But what most likely brought on these recent moves is the fact that they are experiencing a slide. For instance, as of Saturday morning the Royals have slipped into a bit of a losing streak. Having lost their last three games in a row.
With the Minnesota Twins breathing down their backs with 73 wins and the Boston Red Sox with 70 wins of their own. The margin for error is becoming extremely slim. There are not many games left to play. Therefore, to keep their slight lead and advantage; the Royals need to get back to winning.
Plus, if they do, they could find themselves winning their division. The Cleveland Guardians (at time of this posting); are just 2.5 games ahead. In the last ten games played, the Guardians have a 4-6 record and Kansas City won five and lost five. So then, both teams are performing about the same, and it will most likely be a tight battle all of September. As these two organizations try to best each other and win the AL Central.
Royals Claim Tommy Pham and Robbie Grossman Off Waivers
On Saturday, Kansas City officially announced their latest roster moves. The organization reveals,
“We have claimed OF Robbie Grossman off waivers from the Texas Rangers and OF Tommy Pham off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals. We anticipate both players reporting tomorrow.
INF CJ Alexander and C Austin Nola have been designated for assignment.”
Pham and Grossman are nice additions. They’re both veterans that have playoff experience. In fact, interestingly both men just appeared in last season’s World Series. Robbie won with the Rangers and Pham was very effective in helping the Arizona Diamondbacks get to the World Series to compete for a championship.
