Roger Federer Will be Inducted Into International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2026

It is time to honor another living legend. A tennis phenomenon that cemented his greatness by being the absolute best in the world with the longest streak ever recorded in WTA and ATP history. For this reason and so much more, Roger Federer will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2026!

The International Tennis Hall of Fame began in 1954 as the National Tennis Hall of Fame. It was founded by Jimmy Van Alen in Newport, Rhode Island. The first class of inductees receive enshrinement in 1955; and the name officially changes to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1975 with the induction of Fred Perry.

Players can be considered after five years away from the tour. However, they need to be selected by 75% of the voting group. This group includes tennis media, historians, industry leaders as well as members of the Hall and fans.

2026 International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The 2026 International Tennis Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Newport, Rhode Island, from August 27–29, 2026. This celebration will honor the Class of 2026; which includes Roger Federer and Mary Carillo. Roger is one of eight men with a career Grand Slam. Collecting eight championships at Wimbledon, six at the Australian Open, five at the U.S. Open and one at the French Open. Therefore, not surprising to anyone; Federer has been elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Furthermore, Federer reached a record 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals from 2005-07, winning eight. That dominance extended to appearing in 18 of 19 Slam finals. He also put together streaks of 23 semifinals and 36 quarterfinals at majors.

These are statistics that you read that don’t feel possible, but they happened. That’s just how brilliant Federer was throughout his tenure. And it’s just what we came to expect during an era of unprecedented greatness with rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

World No. 1 for 310 weeks (237 consecutive weeks, longest streak in ATP & WTA history)

When asked how he feels about his upcoming induction, Federer had a brief, simple reply. He states, “I’ve always valued the history of tennis and the example set by those who came before me. To be recognized in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling.”
