Rob Gronkowski Will Sign One-Day Contract To Retire As New England Patriot

He was exciting to watch on the football field and was known for “throwing players out of the club.”  And he also came across as a fun-loving, overgrown kid who liked to have a good time. His lovable personality endeared him to football fans everywhere even after he quit the game. However, he’s back again; Rob Gronkowski will sign a one-day contract to retire as a New England Patriot.

So why is he doing it now since he had initially announced his retirement in March 2019? Then came back for the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring for the second time in June 2022. Well he’s doing it to honor the wishes of a friend who recently passed away. Last week Gronkowski mourned the loss of former New England Patriots cheerleader and CharityTeams founder, Susan Hurley.

On Instagram he told his followers: Hurley knew him and his family “for a long time,” and, “She became a good friend of ours and supported our foundation more than words can express over the years.” He also added: “Without Susan, there would be no Gronk Playground. I’m thankful that her legacy can live on through the playground, making a huge impact not only on all the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation kids she helped, but all the kids she continues to inspire every day.”

Therefore, with Gronkowski signing the ceremonial one-day contract he will be fulfilling the wish of his close friend. Hurley died after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 61. Both Hurley and Gronkowski spent a great deal of time giving back to the city of Boston. Helping nonprofits raise money through athletic events.
