Reviewing the NFL Sunday Action of Week 2

Reviewing the NFL Sunday Action of Week 2

Before we start reviewing the NFL Sunday action of week 2 we’ll look back at Thursday night. The Eagles held on for the win against the Vikings on Thursday. Two turnovers by the Vikings did them no favors. And the Eagles went on a scoring binge. A comeback was mounted by the Vikings but ultimately failed. If the Vikings want to get out of the hole they’re currently digging they will have to clean up their mistakes.

On to Sunday’s action we’ll start with the Jets. They didn’t get shut out.

In other news the Falcons got off to a rocky start with QB Desmond Ridder throwing an interception on their first possession of the game. But they did score the first points of the game with a field goal. The Packers went on a scoring spree in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. It looked as if all was lost for the Falcons. But they mounted a furious comeback and kicked a field goal that gave them a one point lead. The Packers were not able to score and the Falcons held on for the win. However, both young quarterbacks are showing promise and should be fun to watch going forward.

The Raiders started with a bang and ended with a fizzle. They marched down the field and scored on their opening drive but things went downhill from there. They had two interceptions and a fumble during the game. Meanwhile Buffalo was scoring on the regular bouncing back nicely after their week 1 loss. Being a Jimmy G. fan I hope the Raiders will get their offense on track and play well next week.

The Giants made some noise by making a huge comeback in their contest against the Cardinals. It looked for sure like they were going to lose the game not scoring a point in the first half. But the Giants woke up in the 2nd half scoring 31 points which was good enough for a 31-28 victory. Giants QB Daniel Jones played much better throwing for 3 touchdowns. We’ll see if he can build on this success in the coming weeks. Meanwhile the Cardinals are 0-2 and will have to figure out how to win.

Meanwhile the Ravens and Lamar Jackson are rounding into fighting form beating the division rival Bengals 27-24. Joe Burrow is not yet at championship level. Perhaps that training camp injury is still lingering. On the other hand, Patrick Mahomes was happy to have his guy Travis Kelce back. Although they won the game 17-9 against the Jaguars their offense seems a little clunky. Mahomes acknowledged that their offense has to play better.

Kudos to Geno Smith and the Seahawks for grabbing an overtime win. Geno played much better today than he did last week. I’m amazed that he is still able to play in the league, good for him. The evening game will be the Dolphins vs Patriots. The New England defense will have to be stout against the Dolphins explosive offense. Monday night features a double header. The Saints vs Panthers and Browns vs Steelers. Enjoy, football fans!
