The league announced this week that retired Major League Baseball stars Clayton Kershaw, Anthony Rizzo, and Joey Votto have joined NBC Sports’ Major League Baseball coverage. The network made the announcement during Sunday’s Super Bowl pregame show.

Yes, on the biggest day in sports in America NBC Sports heralded,

“Some BIG names have joined our NBC Sports pregame coverage for the MLB Postseason Wild Card round on NBC and Peacock. 

Welcome to the team Anthony Rizzo, Clayton Kershaw, and Joey Votto!”

These gentlemen are such great additions to NBC’s baseball broadcasts. All three enjoyed long careers, playing for 14 or more seasons; and have multiple All Star nods under their belts. Additionally, Clayton Kershaw (3x Cy Young winner) and Anthony Rizzo (Silver Slugger) both are World Series champs. And Joey Votto (led the NL in on-base percentage seven times); and like Clayton also has a MVP accolade.

So then, these are players that can definitely break down plays and matchups. Heck, they played against many guys still in the league. Therefore, they possess a real edge and unique point of view when discussing the strengths and weaknesses of teams.

“JUST IN: Recently retired Major League Baseball stars Clayton Kershaw, Anthony Rizzo, and Joey Votto have joined NBC Sports’ Major League Baseball coverage!

Kershaw, Rizzo, and Votto will serve as NBC Sports’ pregame analysts for its exclusive MLB Postseason coverage of all Wild Card games and select pregame shows leading into regular-season Sunday Night Baseball games on NBC and Peacock.”
