Ravens End Season On High Note With Win Over Browns

Ravens Ended Season On High Note With Win Over Browns

There was a lot for the Baltimore Ravens to celebrate but not so much for the Cleveland Browns. It was Derrick “King” Henry’s 31st birthday today and there were bonuses to earn. The AFC North and No. 3 seed was clinched. But most of all the Ravens ended the season on high note with a decisive win over the Browns. But there were some injury scares for the Ravens as Rashod Bateman took a big hit but returned for the next play. Zay Flowers had a knee injury and was eventually downgraded to Out for the rest of the game.

The game got started with each team punting on their opening drive. But Nate Wiggins got the scoring going with a pick-6 of Cleveland quarterback Bailey Zappe for the 26-yard touchdown. But then both teams turned the ball over on downs. The first quarter lacked any offensive scoring but did feature a few Lamar Jackson scrambles. In the second quarter, the Ravens offense got going with good starting field position at the CLE 47. With a Zay Flowers’ rush and reception the drive was capped off with a Mark Andrews 12-yard touchdown reception.

Cleveland came back with a 23-yard field goal. They got help getting down the field with a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty and a five-yard defensive holding penalty. But that would be the only score for the Browns in the first half. The Browns quarterback situation is unsettled which is why Zappe was replaced in the first quarter. However, that’s when Kyle Van Noy sacked Dorian Thompson-Robinson. His play was less than stellar and resulted in Zappe being put back in the game. But thanks to the sack Van Noy earned a $250,000.00 contract incentive.

The Ravens opened the third quarter with another touchdown but then it was all punts for the rest of the quarter. Cleveland started the fourth quarter with a 16 play drive that ended with a touchdown. However, the Ravens would go on to score another two touchdowns. And then there was some big man action as Michael Pierce intercepted Zappe. He rumbled for a total of six yards before he decided to take a knee even though there was plenty of space to run. Pierce said nope, not doing that, lol! The Ravens punted with 33 seconds left in the game. Bailey Zappe took a knee to end the game 10-35, Ravens.

On a side note, if the Steelers lose and the Chargers defeat the Raiders, it will be Ravens-Steelers in the postseason for the first time since the 2014 season. Meanwhile the Browns can start planning for next season.
