Raiders Thrashed the Chargers on Thursday Night Football

Coming into the game the Raiders had not scored a touchdown in their last 20 possessions. But they made up for that when they thrashed the Chargers on Thursday Night Football. On their first possession they moved down the field and got a touchdown.

Justin Herbert had season-ending surgery on his broken index finger. So Easton Stick started at quarterback for San Diego. Stick was moving the offense down field until he was sacked and fumbled the ball. The Raiders capitalized on the turnover and scored a touchdown.

San Diego then had another fumble on their next possession. The Raiders recovered it and proceeded to score another touchdown. They were up 0-21 before the first quarter was over. The quarter ended with another sack of Stick on 3rd & 5

The Chargers defense finally got a stop forcing the Raiders to punt. But the offense wasn’t able to get the run game going. And the Raiders defense put a lot of pressure on Stick. He completed a few passes but eventually San Diego had to punt.

Barely five minutes into the second quarter the Chargers fumbled on the kick off return. Raiders recovered the ball on the Chargers 14 yard line. Two plays later the Raiders scored their fourth touchdown of the game. And with 3:50 still on the clock the Raiders scored again.

San Diego couldn’t block anyone. On their next possession they tried to convert a 4th and 1 and ended up with an offensive offsides penalty à la Kadarious toney. The Raiders got the ball and scored another touchdown. The half ended with 0-42 score. Unbelievable.

But something good finally happened to the Chargers. They caught the Raiders sleeping and scored a touchdown. They went on to score two more touchdowns. But it was far too little and much too late.

Eight different Raiders scored a touchdown and the final score was 21-63. This after being shut out just four days prior. So interim head coach Antonio Pierce is making a case to remain as the head coach and the players love him. Whereas San Diego coach Brandon Staley is surely on the hot seat.
