Raiders Did Damage In the Desert on Monday Night

It was a game of two seemingly well matched teams. However the Raiders did damage in the desert on Monday Night football. Not only did they get the win, but they crushed Jordan Love. Apparently both physically and mentally. After the game, Troy Aikman summarized that there was a lot of pressure on Love. And it showed on his face that he is feeling the pressure. Following in the footsteps of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers is a tough job for the four year veteran.

Green Bay couldn’t get the running game going. Love was sacked three times and rushed several times. He got to know Maxx Crosby very well tonight. The defensive lineman was all over Love and in his face throughout the game. And to top matters off they turned the ball over three times. It was an unimpressive showing for the Packers. Improvement is needed on both sides of the ball and Love is going to need to play with more confidence.

But having said all that, the Raiders need to continue to improve as well. There were too many times when their defense gave up big plays. They allowed Green Bay to pick up third and long plays. For reasons unknown, they underused one of the best wide receivers in the league, Davante Adams. However, Adams is nursing a shoulder injury so they may have limited his number of snaps. Overall it feels like the Raiders are moving in the right direction. We’ll see if they can continue to get better.

On a side note, there were plenty of Green Bay fans in the stadium. I wonder if more people are combining their love of football with their love of gambling. They can kill two birds with one stone if their team is playing the Raiders. No judgment from me, just curious.

Fun Fact: According to ESPN Stats, this was the first time the Raiders Beat the Packers since 1987. Also, the kickers for both teams are brothers. Daniel Carlson plays for the Raiders and Anders Carlson for the Packers. And their family was in full effect at the stadium. I believe good times were had by all.
