Phoenix Suns' Dillon Brooks Will Miss Weeks After Suffering Hand Injury Over the Weekend

Phoenix Suns’ Dillon Brooks Will Miss Weeks After Suffering Hand Injury Over the Weekend

Being in playoff contention was possible for the team thanks in part to him. However, his team did manage to win out over the Orlando Magic in an overtime game, 110-13 last Saturday. But it was in that game that tragedy struck. The Phoenix Suns’ Dillon Brooks will miss weeks after suffering a hand injury over the weekend. It looked like he sustained the injury in the first quarter of the Orlando Magic game and was ruled out by the Suns for the rest of the contest. Or as Griffin S. DeMarrais put it, “Can’t quite see where it happened but Dillon Brooks was holding his non shooting hand a lot in that first quarter.”

This injury immediately followed Brook’s return from a one-game suspension. He was suspended for one game without pay by the NBA in February 2026 for receiving his 16th technical foul for the 2025-2026 regular season. The technical foul happened during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February, 11, 2026. It is an NBA rule to implement a one-game suspension for reaching 16 technical fouls in a season.

Nevertheless, adding more context to the Brooks’ injury situation as well as an update, ESPN Senior NBA Insider, Shams Charania posted:

“Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks has sustained a broken left hand and will be sidelined, sources tell ESPN. Doctors will meet to determine a timetable. Brooks is a key part to the playoff-contending Suns, averaging 21+ points and 3+ rebounds this season. Difficult injury blow.
Return timetable for Suns guard Dillon Brooks after suffering a broken left hand: 4 to 6 weeks, sources tell ESPN.”
Brooks has played an important role on the Suns as he was second on the team with an average of 21.2 points per game, prior to the Orlando Magic game.

It was rough going for the Suns when they had to deal with Jalen Green’s injury setback. And now comes the injury to Brooks. It seems that Brooks’ absence will be even more damaging to the team because they need his offensive output. His being out for multiple weeks will make it more difficult to stay in the playoff hunt. Currently they are sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference with a 33-26 record. Only three games separate them from the eighth place Golden State Warriors.
They signed Haywood Highsmith to a multiyear deal over the All-Star break. However, he is rehabbing a knee injury so he can’t be counted on just yet. Moreover, Jalen Green has missed most of the season with a hamstring injury that doesn’t want to fully heal. Therefore, the Suns are a bit short-handed. At any rate, we’ll have to see how things go for the Phoenix Suns without Dillon Brooks.
