Phillies Strike Back in Game Two of NLDS to Tie Series 1-1

This is one of the best postseason games in recent history. An all out fight. Wild. Dramatic and high tension. A back and forth WAR that went all the way down to the final moments of the ninth inning. After much battling, the Phillies strike back in Game Two of the NLDS to tie the Series 1-1.

The New York Mets have making waves all year with their late game comebacks. But Philadelphia gave the Mets a little taste of their own medicine on Sunday. The Phillies were able to come from behind and take the big “W.” This series will not be a sweep.

In this Game 2 matchup the Mets drew first blood. Getting two runs in the third inning. And they added on in the sixth inning making the score 3-0. However, in the sixth the Phillies also started flexing their offensive muscles. Scoring three runs of their own tying up the game 3-3.

Going into the seventh, the lead would just keep on changing hands. The Mets answer back immediately breaking the tie. Brandon Nimmo comes through again for New York with a solo shot home run (his first career homer in the postseason) putting the Mets back on top 4-3. But this lead would not last.

The Phillies Bryson Stott faced Edwin Diaz in the bottom of the eighth inning. And he took Diaz to school. Stott bangs in a 2-run triple giving Philadelphia their first lead in this NLDS game 2. However, the Phillies could not just kick back and relax. This game was still NOT OVER.

Flash forward to the top of the ninth inning. The Mets continue to battle. New York ties it up again! With one out and one on; Mark Vientos blasts a home run to even the score. The Phillies will now have the bottom of ninth to try and finish this thing.

Trea Turner gets on. So does Bryce Harper. Now Nick Castellanos is up to bat. Nick gets down 0-2 in the count. It’s looking scary. But then Nick does Nick things. Castellanos puts the ball in play right past defenders, a walk off hit! And the Phillies come from behind and win it , 7-6.

What a Sunday. This matchup fed families. Now both teams will get a day off on Monday. And will face each other in game 3 on Tuesday. Get the popcorn ready everyone. These two ball clubs are locked in and ready to rumble.
