Phillies Kyle Schwarber Becomes 21st Player in MLB History to Have 4-Homer Game

Hitting one home run in a game is exciting. Hitting two is downright impressive. Knocking three out the park is a mind-boggling experience. However, for a guy to blast FOUR baseballs into the realms of ballpark oblivion is straight up iconic. On Thursday evening, one player made the history books by swinging one mean bat. Yes, the Phillies Kyle Schwarber becomes the 21st player in MLB history to have a 4-homer game!

Hitting a home run is not easy. The proof is in the numbers. For instance, according to Plate Crate, “statistics reveal that in a Major League Baseball (MLB) season, only about 6% of all players accounted for nearly one-third of all home runs, highlighting just how elusive this achievement can be.”

However, what’s wild about what just occurred is that Schwarber is not even the only player to accomplish this feat this year. Heck, he isn’t even the second. He’s actually the third.

Nick Kurtz hit a record-tying four home runs in a 15-3 win against the Houston Astros in July 2025. The Athletics slugger became the 20th player in Major League Baseball history to hit four homers in a single game. Kurtz at the time was also the second MLB player with four home runs in a game in the 2025 season, after Eugenio Suarez hit four in April. Kurtz is also the first rookie to accomplish the feat.

Nevertheless, here we are again with another baseball player mesmerizing us all with a four home run game; his 49th homer of the season. And Thursday’s matchup versus the Atlanta Braves proved to be a bloodbath. Kyle Schwarber did plenty of damage with his four homers and 9 RBIs (becoming only the fourth Phillie to do so).

However, the rest of his team weren’t shabby either. In the end the Phillies would come away with the victory. Defeating the Braves, 4-19.

What a night. And good news, Kyle Schwarber’s big night will not soon be forgotten. The Phillies equipment/clubhouse chief Phil Sheridan retrieved Kyle Schwarber’s helmet. It’s now off to the Hall of Fame.
