Philadelphia Eagles Lock Down Center Cam Jurgens With New Extension
There’s good news for quarterback Jalen Hurts. After working for years with center Jason Kelce, he retired after the 2023 season. However, his replacement smoothly stepped into the role and has had Hurts’ back since the departure of Kelce. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed as the Philadelphia Eagles made the move to lock down their center Cam Jurgens with a new extension. Jurgens came into the league in 2022 as a second round draft pick of the Eagles (No. 51 overall).
Dropping the details about the extension, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted:
“Pro-Bowl center Cam Jurgens and the Eagles reached agreement today on a four-year, $68 million extension that includes $39.4 million guaranteed that contractually ties him to Philadelphia through the 2029 season, per the team and his agent Ryan Tollner at @excelfootball.”
In the 2023 season, Jurgens transitioned to the right guard position, earning the starting job there for 11 games. With the retirement of Kelce, Jurgens moved back to his natural position of center and started 16 games in 2024. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl that season becoming the youngest Eagles center to earn Pro Bowl recognition since Ken Farragut (also 25) in 1953. Left guard Landon Dickerson spoke highly of his fellow offensive lineman. Dickerson said:
“I think he’s done a phenomenal job. I mean, everybody’s going to compare him to Jason (Kelce). But Cam is Cam. He’s going to do his own thing. He’s filled the role of playing center for the Philadelphia Eagles extremely well.”
For his part, Jurgens acknowledged that he’s surrounded by good guys saying:
“I feel like I have a lot of good guys around me and I just kept learning, getting better every game this year. It’s a huge honor, so many people playing never get it,” Jurgens said when he was named a Pro Bowl selection. “I’m still going to do the same thing and be the same person.”

However, Jurgens isn’t the only offensive lineman the Eagles have signed. Over the past year they have signed:
- C Cam Jurgens: 4-years, $68M
- LT Jordan Mailata: 3-years, $66M
- LG Landon Dickerson: 4-years, $84M
- RT: Lane Johnson: 1-year, $25M
With his new extension, Jurgens is now the second-highest paid center in the league at $17M/year. He’s just behind Creed Humphrey at $18M/year. Hurts should feel nice and comfortable in the pocket over the next few seasons with all those guys under contract. Clearly, the Eagles have let it be known that when a player performs they’re going to keep him around for a long time.
Congratulations to Cam and the rest of his crew on the multi-year extensions!
