Philadelphia Eagles’ Brandon Graham Made His Retirement Official
Ever since his triceps injury Week 12 of the 2024 season there had been speculation if that was the last time he would play. Rumblings about his possible retirement kept growing. However, he managed to get himself healed up enough to play in Super Bowl LIX. And having accomplished that feat it made it easier for him to let go of the game. So today the Philadelphia Eagles’ Brandon Graham made his retirement official. After an amazing 15-year NFL career the fierce pass-rusher is walking away.
Regarding playing in the Super Bowl, Graham had this to say:
“If I didn’t make it back to the Super Bowl, I probably wouldn’t be up here right now,” Graham said. “I promise you I’d be begging to come on back one more. But I was happy to be able to make it back to play with my guys, to put that uniform on one last time in a big moment, big stage.”
He went on to say how happy he was with the way things turned out in his career:
“I could not be happier with the way my career played out, the love I’ve gotten, and the success the Eagles have had as an organization,” Graham said prior to his official announcement. “For real, it has been a dream come true.”
Graham had the pleasure of playing in the first Super Bowl that the Eagles won against the New England Patriots. He even had a late-game strip-sack of Tom Brady to help seal the victory. But he also was apart of the other two Super Bowls the Eagles played in this decade. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII but they dominated them two years later for the win in Super Bowl LIX. Allowing Graham to end his career on a high-note with the 40-22 win.

His 15 seasons played are tied for the most in franchise history, and no one can top his 206 regular-season games played (plus 20 playoff contests). A second-team All-Pro in 2016 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2020, Graham registered 76.5 quarterback sacks in the regular season (plus 5.5 more in the postseason) to rank third in franchise history. Chairman and CEO, Jeffrey Lurie spoke about the specialness of his career with the Eagles.
“Without question, Brandon Graham is the embodiment of everything you would want in a Philadelphia Eagle. He’s a special player and a special person. It’s only fitting that he has played in more games than anyone else in the history of our franchise.”
“The positive energy he brought every day was infectious, whether it was a practice, a game, or just walking around the building. Anyone who has had the pleasure of interacting with him would tell you that it’s impossible to have a bad day after being in his presence. Make no mistake, he was also a tough, physical, and talented player who has played an integral role in the success we’ve had over the years.”
Longtime Eagle Has Called It Quits
Graham ends his career with 487 total tackles, 126 for a loss, 153 QB hits and 22 forced fumbles. Because of his giving and caring attitude along with is his work in the community he was a two-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award nominee. His trademark smile, warm demeanor and leadership ability made him a favorite of the fans and his teammates. And he wrapped it all up with two Super Bowl victories. It’s the way every player dreams about going out.
However, his loss along with six other defensive players leaves a lot of holes to fill. But no doubt general manager Howie Roseman will plug them as quickly as possible. In the meantime, congratulations to Brandon Graham on a stellar career and best wishes in retirement. I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him.
