Philadelphia Eagles And Head Coach Nick Sirianni Agreed To Contract Extension

What a difference a season makes. At the end of 2023 it looked like he was on the hot seat and in danger of losing his job. However, as things worked out, it was both the offensive and defensive coordinators who were ushered out the door. However, at the beginning of 2024 the general manager let it be known that the coach was staying. Now almost a year and a half later, the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Nick Sirianni have agreed to a contract extension.

In a January press conference in 2024 GM Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni set the goal of having their players perform better and continue to grow. After winning the Super Bowl for the 2024 season it’s safe to say they attained their goal. Sirianni, hired prior to the 2021 season has accomplished a great deal in his four years with the team. Besides winning Super Bowl LIX, he has led the Eagles to the postseason in all four years with two Super Bowl appearances.

So it’s not surprising that the team on Monday announced that it has signed Sirianni to a multi-year contract extension. Owner Jeffrey Lurie made the following statement:

“As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success,” said Philadelphia Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie. “Nothing is more important to fostering such an environment than having tremendous leadership.

Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles.”

Interestingly last season’s offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, moved on to become head coach of the New Orleans Saints. In fact, Sirianni has had three full-time offensive coordinators and three full-time defensive coordinators — three total moved on to become current head coaches. Shane Steichen went to Indianapolis and Jonathan Gannon, is Arizona’s head coach. Despite the turnover in coordinators, Sirianni continues to have success.

His foundation has lain in being adaptable, forward-thinking, passionate, and culture-building in his time in Philadelphia. And clearly the players have bought into his methods. And of course, general manager Howie Roseman is behind Sirianni 100%. Together the two will certainly be a juggernaut for the other NFL clubs to contend with. They already have garnered the team’s second Lombardi trophy and no doubt have their sights set on many more to come. Congratulations to coach Sirianni on a well-deserved extension!
