Philadelphia Celebrated Super Bowl Winning Eagles With Parade
Let’s be honest, the team had already started celebrating a victory during the fourth quarter. There were hugs and daps and tears in abundance on the sideline this past Sunday. Nevertheless, whenever a team wins the big game their respective city honors their victory with a parade. Although it’s Valentine’s Day today, the city of Philadelphia celebrated their Super Bowl LIX winning Eagles with a wild parade. Fans arrived to the city in the early morning hours despite the parade not set to begin until a little before 11 a.m.
The parade route started at South Philadelphia’s Broad Street and Pattison Avenue intersection. And ended at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It was at the the iconic “Rocky Steps” that quarterback Jalen Hurts made this declaration: “I told myself when I got drafted that I wouldn’t go to the Rocky steps until I won a championship… and now we here.” That had to have felt good for Jalen to say that after having to listen to his critics since he entered the league.
Fans were loud and rowdy as their team rolled through the streets. They were tossing hoagies, beer cans and heaven knows what else to the team. Both superstar cornerback Cooper DeJean and general manager Howie Roseman were injured by beer cans. DeJean had a cut over his eyebrow, while Roseman had been hit dead in the center of his forehead. But they both took it in stride with Roseman standing at the podium saying, “I bleed for this city.”
Meanwhile both C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and other Eagles continued the “belt to a**” theme from the Super Bowl carrying leather belts with them. And of course the crowd joined with them by chanting, “BTA! BTA!” I think you can figure out what that meant, lol.

At one point, Saquon Barkley saw the Eagles ball boy in the crowd and pulled him over the fence to join them in the parade. After a few hours on parade the team arrived at the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Jalen Hurts opened the speeches. Also speaking were Jordan Mailata, A.J. Brown, Landon Dickerson and many others. Brandon Graham concluded the speeches which was a nice touch since he will likely be retiring.
All in all, great fun was had by everyone and even though the parade was wrapped up some kept the party going. They headed to nearby bars and restaurants to continue the celebration.
With a decisive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs the Philadelphia Eagles effectively silenced all their naysayers. We’ll see what they will do next season. Until then, “Fly Eagles Fly!”
