Patriots DT Christian Barmore Diagnosed With Blood Clots

A very scary development emerges from the New England camp. The Patriots standout DT Christian Barmore was diagnosed this weekend with blood clots.

This situation is certainly a tough blow for the Patriots. Barmore was one of the shining highlights in an otherwise pretty dark season. The Patriots would end the 2023-2024 season going 4-13.

However, despite the disappointing results of the 2023 season. Barmore was far from a disappointment. Over three seasons, Barmore has totaled 12.5 sacks, 133 combined tackles, one forced fumble and 18 tackles for loss. For his third season with the Pats, Christian had a career-high 8.5 sacks and 64 combined tackles over 17 games (six starts). Due to such a breakout season, New England decided to reward Barmore’s efforts with a contract extension. A four-year deal worth a maximum of $92 million, including $41.8 million guaranteed at signing.

So then, it is clear that the Patriots certainly saw Barmore as playing a significant role in their future success. But now things have changed. And New England’s new focus concerning regarding Christian is his health. In an official statement the Patriots state,

“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots. He was appropriately treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated and treated Christian. Our principal concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world. While there is no current timetable for his return, we know Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

We definitely hope and wish Barmore the best in his recovery. We are extremely happy to know he is receiving the best care. Apparently, a lot of credit goes to the Patriots head trainer and staff. At least that’s how Christian’s agent sees it.

Barmore’s agent, Nicole Lynn, took to social media platform X to explain why she’s especially thankful for head Patriots trainer Jim Whalen. Lynn writes,

“I would be remiss if I did not thank the Patriots’ trainer, Jim Whalen, for his absolute diligence and care over the last couple of days. Today could have looked a lot different without Jim’s persistent (sic) and expertise.”

According to NFL Network, Barmore had a bruise on the back of his calf that he “kind of thought was nothing.” However, Whalen insisted that he have it checked out to make sure nothing was indeed the case. This check helped, and now Barmore is receiving the care and treatment he needs.
