Pass Rushing Phenom Von Miller Set To Sign A One-Year Deal With The Commanders

He made the start to his impressive career in Denver where he became one of the most elite pass rushers in the league. Now the defensive end is looking to join up with his fourth team in the NFL. After being released by the Buffalo Bills he still felt he had much to offer to the right team. So pass rushing phenom Von Miller is set to sign a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders.  As reported by Adam Schefter, “It will be a one-year deal between Von Miller and the Washington Commanders, but the two sides still are “finalizing terms”, per a source.”

However, Miller had apparently decided to break the news himself on Instagram with his own post. Showing himself in a Commanders uniform he is asking, “DC… What’s good?” And the Commanders were in agreement with an x.com post of their own. By bringing Miller on the team, Washington looks to improve their pass rush. While also increasing their ability to close out games with their defense.

Miller will be joining long-time veteran middle linebacker Bobby Wagner who spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Seahawks. He was a part of that ferocious Seahawks defense that helped the team go to back-to-back Super Bowls. Ironically the Seahawks beat the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

However, as reported by nfl.com, the two have a combined 18 Pro Bowls, nine All-Pros, been to a total of four Super Bowls and have played a whopping 26 total seasons. Whether they can recreate their magic from earlier in their careers remains to be seen. Particularly since Miller suffered an ACL injury after joining the Buffalo Bills.

He signed a six-year deal with the Bills worth $120 million in the 2022 offseason. After a good start that included eight sacks in 11 games, he suffered a major right ACL injury on Nov. 24, 2022. Miller said during training camp in 2024 that he “probably should not have played” in 2023 because of the injury. He finished the 2023 season playing in 12 games and recording zero sacks and three tackles and was released by the Bills on March 9.

But prior to that he helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 to finish the 2015 season and earned MVP honors in the process. He was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and won another championship with them that season.

The Commanders are hoping that Von Miller can help them remain in playoff contention. We are looking forward to seeing what Miller can do in DC. Best wishes to him in his new endeavor.
