Padres Xander Bogaerts on Track to Return For Final Series Before All-Star Break

The San Diego Padres have been plagued with injuries all season. From their starting pitcher rotation to players in the infield and outfield. Basically all over the field there’s been injury hits. However, now there seems to be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for the ball club. For example, the Padres Xander Bogaerts looks on track to return for the final series before the All-Star break.

This is a nice sigh of relief for the organization and all of its fans for a plethora of reasons. For one thing, the Padres have been on a nice roll finding themselves in the hunt for a wild card position. If the season ended right now, the Friars would definitely be in; most likely snagging the second WC spot in the National League.

San Diego has shown itself to be quite a contender despite having several guys out. Like Fernando Tatis Jr., Joe Musgrove and Yu Darvish who is also now on the restricted list for an indefinite time period. With each injury, it seemed like the catalyst that could finally cause the wheels to pop off the chariot. However, the opposite is occurring. The team is winning and finds itself on the positive side of .500.

What a difference from 2023. When on paper the Padres looked like THE team to beat and the one that would win a World Series. Yet, this year the team is different. No obstacles or challenges are slowing them down too much. They are getting the job done.

Therefore, with players like Xander Bogaerts healing and rehabbing ahead of schedule; this presents an opportunity for the franchise to get even stronger. Which is important since the Padres will play less games moving forward than every other team due to some “interesting” scheduling this season. Less games, means less opportunities to overcome bad streaks. If need be.

The Padres lopsided schedule has contributed to them playing several more games than other ball clubs. However, playing good baseball will fix this issue. Finishing strong with help from returning players will certainly keep San Diego in a good position to make the postseason. Enabling SD to make the playoffs again since 2022.

The Athletic’s Kevin Acee confirms Bogaerts’ progress and return to major league play. He states,

“It appears Xander Bogaerts remains on track to return for final series before All-Star break. Will likely face live pitching at Petco Park and play a game or two in Lake Elsinore before that.”

Nice. Xander had suffered a shoulder injury (in late May) and had been healing up ever since then. Nevertheless, it is great to see him make rapid progress in his recovery; in order to get back to his team. The final series for San Diego before the All Star break will be a matchup against the Atlanta Braves.
