Padres Soto Contract

Padres Soto Contract: SHOW HIM THE MONEY!

SHOW THE MAN THE MONEY!! Brinks truck. Burn the wallet. A Padres Soto contract is a must for the fans; as well as the San Diego professional baseball organization.

FACTS: Soto is bankable on and off the field. On the field, he’s a generational talent. A star that we don’t always get the chance to gaze upon through the HOF sky. However, when you do; you’re just fascinated and grateful as a sports lover that you got the chance to be among the many to see it.

Already a World Series champion and gold glove finalist (2022); Juan is worth every cent he will soon earn. He has got a great eye for the ball (all his walks easily prove this); and that should age well throughout the rest of his career.

Moreover, he’s an elite hitter. While he doesn’t hit tons of home runs, he’s got enough power to put the fear GAWD in any pitcher and opposing manager. He is to be respected at bat, and I would imagine; with him being young, he is only going to get even more power over time.

Therefore to me, he is a Ted Williams level hitter. He’s a Tony Gwynn level hitter. This is a guy who gets tons of walks on base; you DO NOT in turn let him walk away from your team.

You do whatever it takes to sign that guy. Furthermore, we cannot forget that San Diego loaded up the farm on a truck; bound for Washington last year at the trade deadline. The Padres traded a bunch for Soto. A bunch of prospects like James Wood, C.J. Abrams, Robert Hassell III and Jarlin Susana. So then, you’re not just going to be able to replace him; because you just can’t replace someone worth that many prospects.

However, this is just what happens when a guy crosses over the road from good to lights out INSANELY good. Arguably, in some ways this is as thin of a line; as there is between love and hate. To some, the difference between the elite players compared to an average guy or a good guy, isn’t that much (it takes a whole team blah blah to win); but let’s all agree that the difference of play from an elite is still worth a lot.

So if I was Peter Seidler, I would sign Soto (then again who wouldn’t). I’d sign him for as long as I reasonably can. I’d go 15 years on the guy. I would do whatever, even break any contract records.

I would do practically anything to sign him.  Personally, I think he is going to be a good pairing with Tatis. Fernando Tatis Jr. outfield on the right, Soto on the left. With their at bats and athleticism, there will be teams that find these guys hard to beat.

Plus, due to their ages, the Padres will be sitting pretty for some time. At least for the next 10 or 15 years. That’s a lot of time to have quality guys on the roster to get a title.

Nonetheless, the big name that has been in the news in terms of contracts; has been Ohtani. Of course, every team is going to pull out the stops to get the modern day Babe Ruth. However, this Soto matter has nothing to do with Ohtani. That’s a different thing altogether.

When the time comes for Ohtani, I’m confident the Padres will make their play. However, Soto is here NOW. Soto is on the roster NOW. So the time is ripe for a contract to make him a Padre for life; and for Seidler to throw away the key. San Diego is going after Soto, and just like Manny; it is their top priority right now to lock him up. LET’S GO!!!
