All of San Diego is mourning today. We are very sad to report that Padres Owner Peter Seidler Passes Away. The organization gave the official announcement via their social channels. The MLB franchise states,
“With profound sadness, the Padres announce that their Chairman and Owner Peter Seidler passed away today in San Diego. He will be dearly missed.”
Other west and west coast teams immediately showed concern for Padres fans and shared a few kind words about Peter. Here are thoughts from the Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as Los Angeles Dodgers.

This is a tough moment for any fan, friend, family member; or individual a part of the Padres front office. However, CEO Erik Greupner is able to collect himself in order to share a few words about the legendary San Diego owner. Greupner states,
“The Padres organization mourns the passing of our beloved Chairman and owner, Peter Seidler. Today, our love and prayers encircle Peter’s family as they grieve the loss of an extraordinary husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Peter was a kind and generous man who was devoted to his wife, children, and extended family. He also consistently exhibited heartfelt compassion for others, especially those less fortunate.
His impact on the city of San Diego and the baseball world will be felt for generations. His generous spirit is now firmly embedded in the fabric of the Padres. Although he was our Chairman and owner, Peter was at his core a Padres fan. He will be dearly missed.”
What a loss. Papa Pete will always be remembered for going all in and developing a winning culture for his team. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Seidler was just 63.
