Padres in the World Baseball Classic-Preview for 2023 MLB SEASON!
The Padres in the World Baseball Classic have been putting on quite the show! Homeruns. RBI’s. And making defensive plays look like just another walk in the park.
Quite a few of the Friar Faithful have decided to play. Brown and gold players such as:
- Manny Machado
- Juan Soto
- Nelson Cruz
- Luis Garcia
- Ha Seong Kim
- Yu Darvish
- Xander Bogaerts
- Evan Mendoza
- Nabil Crismatt
- Ruben Galindo
- Jarryd Dale
- Brett Sullivan
- Nick Martinez
- Jake Sanchez
Nevertheless, the group from down by the border are not the only ones making waves in this year’s classic. Several players from Francisco Lindor to Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani; are repping for their respective countries as well as MLB teams proudly. This display of athleticism is compiling a nice, and comprehensive ‘dossier’ as to what we all may be able to expect from these amazing players during the 2023 season.
Therefore, when it comes down to the San Diego Padres playing in the World Baseball Classic; what can we deduce? Well, for one, our guys are healthy and ready! The NL West is no joke… very tough competition; however, our captain Manny Machado, along with Juan Soto, Xander Bogaerts and Ha-Seong Kim are going YARD.
Collectively, and separately all of their play during the Classic is very impressive. Altogether, the group has eight home-runs with Manny power-hitting an HR some 437 feet! Now, some of our guys have been eliminated from competition, but there’s still plenty to review. So then, how does our players’ WBC appearances breakdown?
Padres in the World Baseball Classic-Preview for 2023 MLB SEASON!
Well, the breakout Padre during this sporting event is definitely Ha Seong Kim. Kim hit a total of three home runs! He is on fire and you can just see it in his eyes that winning is all he’s thinking about right now. Therefore, I can’t wait to see him still burning strong this season.
Next up, we have to give it up to our generational talent, Juan Soto! Soto continues to live up to all the hype as he blasted not one, but two balls into oblivion and home-run territory. One homer went all the way up and deep into the second deck of the stadium. As one can see, a healthy Soto is another solid bat for San Diego; aka just what the championship doctor is ordering.
Furthermore, we got to take a moment to give props and thanks to the MAN OF THE HOUR, Mister MANNY MACHADO! New contract, new determination and during the WBC he’s effortlessly showcasing his mad skills. The third baseman made some defensive plays (you know the classic ones) that makes Manny the best in the league. However, he’s also hit 2 humongous homers during his stint in the World Baseball Classic.
It’s what we San Diego fans are used to when it comes to Manny; and it’s why we will never stop heralding that he deserves to be MVP. Nevertheless, Xander Bogaerts also is in on all the action. Going yard himself with an eye-popping home run of his own.
All of these guys are killing it at the plate. In my opinion, this is what we will be able to see more of from the guys this upcoming season. Hot, instead of cold bats.
This is important since last season, runners in scoring position being left there was a problem. Getting them home to score, will be a big help for the Padres as they continue towards the goal of bringing a title to America’s Finest City. LET’S GO!
