Padres Appoint Eric Kutsenda as Chairman to Serve as Interim Control Person
This is not an easy time in San Diego, but decisions still have to be made. After the sudden passing of Padres owner, Peter Seidler, the ball club needed to name a new person who would take control. Hours pass, however, finally a name and a reassuring face emerge from the SD camp. The Padres appoint Eric Kutsenda as Chairman to serve as the interim control person.
As most know, one of Peter’s final requests was that the Padres team remain in his family. Not for a few years. But several decades.
Thus far, the MLB and Padres are working very diligently and hard to fulfill this request; by using an interim to help facilitate the transition. Going from Peter Seidler control to family control. Moreover, Eric Kutsenda confirms that he is accepting his new role and is ready to move forward with all team and franchise plans.

Nevertheless, one of the worries of Padres fans is that the team is going to have do some sort of “fire sale.” Since there is an unfair barrage of stories circulating; claiming the ball club is having financial trouble and difficulties. However, Seidler, known for spending big; promises before he passes, that will not happen. Moreover, Eric Kutsenda is also stating he is ready to fulfill ALL of Seidler’s wishes and future visions for the Padres. In statement, Kutsenda declares,
“With a heavy heart, I humbly accept this appointment in honor of my dear friend, Peter Seidler, who I had the privilege of working with for almost 30 years. I am excited to partner with (CEO) Erik Greupner and (General Manager) A.J. Preller to help guide the Padres forward in fulfillment of Peter’s vision.
That vision includes the Padres remaining as a family asset for generations to come. [It also] is anchored in Peter’s dedication to the fans and community of San Diego. Our north star remains the same: to win a World Series Championship for the city of San Diego.”
Therefore, the show is going on and forward. The team will be in good hands. The Padres are going to win one for Pete. Let’s go!
