Padres Acquire RHP Enyel De Los Santos from Guardians- San Diego Prepares for 2024!

It’s been a tough week with the passing of the great Peter Seidler. However, now the team seems to be starting to switch gears towards fielding an amazing roster for the 2024 season. A season to win it all for Papa Pete. To kick things off, the Padres acquire RHP Enyel De Los Santos from the Guardians.

This move… is a must. With Snell going to free agency, along with closer Josh Hader and relief pitcher, Nick Martinez. The Padres are very lean on pitching.

So lean, that they really only have two starting pitchers in the lineup. El Cajon bred kid, Joe Musgrove; as well as Japanese superstar, Yu Darvish. Therefore, more is needed, as fast as possible because we are already days from December beginning, then just weeks out from spring training. The time is of the essence.

Padres Acquire RHP Enyel De Los Santos from Guardians- San Diego Prepares for 2024!

The Cleveland Guardians seemed to have had one of the pieces to San Diego’s pitching puzzle. Moreover, the Guardians felt like the Padres was holding a piece that they need too. Therefore, a trade is arranged.

The Guardians will get Scott Barlow from the Padres. A late 2023 season pickup by San Diego just hours before the trade deadline. Nonetheless, the Padres now pickup Enyel De Los Santos, a 6-foot-3, 240 pound; right hand tosser with a 3.18 ERA.

Furthermore, the MLB gushes over the guy, staring that De Los Santos “set career-highs in appearances (70), innings pitched (65.2), holds (16), batters faced (262), and strikeouts (62) in 2023 for the Guardians, owning a 5–2 record with a 3.29 ERA (24 ER, 65.2 IP), 1.14 WHIP, and .216 opponent batting average.

[Also] posted a career-long 11-game scoreless streak, and in his win on May 1 at Yankee Stadium, he recorded two outs on one pitch, picking off a runner at first before throwing a pitch and becoming the first pitcher in MLB history (since at least 1901) to earn a win while recording two outs on one pitch without a double play.”

Wow. The Padres and general manager, AJ Preller clearly understands the assignment and is starting to make their move. Today, they proudly announce, “Welcome to San Diego, Enyel! We have acquired RHP Enyel De Los Santos from the Cleveland Guardians.”

Therefore, great news during a tough week. However, we’re sure that this is just the beginning. There’s more moves to come.
