Not what anyone wants to see. Especially, during the very last and deciding matchup of the playoffs. Indiana’s star player was on a heater and thoroughly expending himself in order to push his team to glory. Yes, the Pacers Tyrese Haliburton leaves it all on the court during the 2025 NBA Finals; unfortunately exiting Game 7 with an Achilles injury.

During the first quarter, Haliburton was on FIRE. And OKC could not stop the man and his long shots. Tyrese drained three 3’s in just the first five minutes of the game alone. He was certainly shaping up to be a major feature of the game’s highlight reels.

Furthermore, such a performance on the court is even more remarkable when you consider that Tyrese was also playing through a calf strain. An injury sustained during Game 5 of the series. Haliburton was not about to sit out Game 7. He put his body on the line; giving every ounce of energy he possessed running through his veins. And there isn’t a single Indiana or basketball fan that would not respect such efforts.

Nonetheless, Tyrese went down after his dynamic start of Game 7. Immediately, he knew he would not be able to continue. He covered his face in pure agony, pummeling the court with his fist in frustration. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander immediately went to check on the Indiana Pacers’ Haliburton who was still repeatedly pounding the court in pain after falling. In time, Haliburton had to be helped to the bench and put no weight on his right leg.

He eventually exited the area completely. Being helped the entire time. He would not return.

Right at halftime an update on the Tyrese Haliburton’s Game 7 injury finally came to the fore. Haliburton’s father was able to provide confirmation of what exactly had happened to his son. Lisa Salters who was handling reporting duties mentioned on the ABC broadcast that Tyrese Haliburton’s father had confirmed that his son sustained an Achilles injury.

Three stars this postseason have sustained torn Achilles. Damien Lillard (Bucks), Jayson Tatum (Celtics), and now Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers).

Nevertheless, the Pacers continue to fight on and lead at the half. And Tyrese is behind them all the way. John Haliburton said his son seems to be in good spirits and is watching the game and rooting on his team from the locker room. Haliburton was averaging 17.7 points and a playoff-leading 9.0 assists on 46% shooting entering Sunday. His 197 assists were also a franchise record for a single postseason.
