Pacers Tyrese Haliburton Injured Right Achilles Tendon—Had Surgery to Fix

He knew the risk, but wanted to play. It is not everyday that one has the opportunity to become a champion. However, Game 7 would take a very unfortunate turn for Indiana’s star player. Near the start of the game Haliburton would sustain a leg injury and not return. On Monday it was confirmed that the Pacers Tyrese Haliburton had injured his right Achilles tendon and had surgery in order to fix any damage.

Haliburton played through a calf strain in the same leg during the NBA Finals for an opportunity to win Indiana a title. But would ultimately end up leaving the game after a fall. Nonetheless, during the early afternoon hours the following day, the Pacers franchise released an official statement on Halliburton’s injury. The NBA organization revealed,

“Tyrese Haliburton suffered an injury to his right Achilles tendon during last night’s game at Oklahoma City. An MRI taken today that confirmed he tore his right Achilles tendon and surgery is scheduled for later today.”

Therefore, the Pacers are not wasting any time getting Tyrese’s health situation resolved. Achilles injuries take time to bounce back from and recover completely. So then, Indiana wants to get Haliburton healed and healthy as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, coach Rick Carlisle is feeling very confident that once Tyrese recuperates, he will be back to being every bit of the player fans got to witness this season. Regarding Halliburton’s injury, Carlisle says,

He will be back,” Carlisle said following the 103-91 loss at Oklahoma City during Game 7. “I don’t have any medical information about what’s what, what may or may not have happened. But he’ll be back in time, and I believe he’ll make a full recovery.”

NBA.com shares the same sentiments as Coach Carlisle. The official site of the league mentions, “At age 25, Haliburton is young enough to return to his pre-injury form and today’s medical advances could help shorten the expected timetable of about 12 months. Many players, including some much older than Haliburton, have shown it is possible to make a full comeback from torn Achilles tendons.”
