Only Two Quarterbacks to Go 57-19 in First 76 Starts Since the Merger- Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson

When you think of elite quarterbacks you may think of Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas, John Elway, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Dan Marino, Terry Bradshaw and of course, the King… and GOAT… Tom Brady. However, not everyone can be one of the greats. Yet, this still does not mean there are not any football players currently working themselves onto the list. For instance, you may think of Baltimore’s captain of the o-line; who now shares some NFL history with Brady. Lamar Jackson is now one of only two quarterbacks to go 57-19 in first 76 starts since the merger.

That is wild. Two. There is only two guys on the list.

Moreover, even the GOAT has taken notice of Lamar. Showing him love on social media in his stories, of the pair shaking hands. Respect.

However, this is not to say that the two are totally on the same level. Especially, when you shift your attention to the playoffs. While regular season stats are cool, most would agree (including NFL players); that what happens during the playoffs are of more importance.

It is during that time of the year that champions are crowned. Therefore, when you look at how many rings Tom Brady had after his first 76 games; there is a clear divide that starts to develop between the two awesome guys. One being a Super Bowl winner; the other still aiming to join the club.

Furthermore, Lamar is well on his way. The 2023 season sees the Ravens with a 12-3 record and clearly making it into the playoffs. Baltimore’s record this season puts them in the number one spot in their division ( AFC North); as well as the entire American Football Conference. The closest teams in the AFC are the Miami Dolphins (11-4) and Cleveland Browns (10-5).

Do Ravens Have a 2023 Playoff Chance?

Moreover, ESPN Analytics are giving Lamar and the Ravens a good chance of not only getting to the playoffs, but securing home field advantage. ESPN reports that “the Ravens have a 97 % chance of winning the AFC North and 74 % chance of finishing as the top seed. [Top seed] comes with a first round playoff bye and home field advantage.”

Such an appearance would give Lamar Jackson a chance to improve upon his playoff career and stats. While he may not fully rival Tom Brady, what Jackson and the Ravens are doing this season is still top notch. And time will tell if Lamar has what it takes to get some rings of his own. Until then, nice achievement Mr. Jackson and look forward to seeing you play in the postseason.
