OKC Defeats Nuggets 149-106 in Game 2–Setting NBA Playoffs Record
Did you watch NBA history being made LIVE? If you did, you saw a performance on behalf of Oklahoma City which was one of pure dominance. Denver never stood a chance. OKC defeats the Nuggets 149-106 in game 2 while setting a NBA playoffs record in the first half.
In a nutshell, OKC took off. Denver faltered early. The Nuggets were never able to recover.
OKC ended up smoking the Nuggets like rent was due at midnight, by 43 points. At one point of the game Denver was down by 48. Total blowout. However, this game proved to be a very confident bounce back by OKC.
The Thunder had lost game one of this playoff series, but they did not let the loss affect them. They walked right back into their house two nights later and made a statement on the court. Which simply was… DO NOT underestimate their talent or ability to win.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was lights out scoring 34 points with 8 assists and 4 rebounds. However, the OKC supporting cast also did their thing. With Williams having 17 points, Holmgren scoring 15 points and Hartenstein putting up 14 points.
If there were some lingering doubts about the Thunder closing out games. By the end of Wednesday evening no one doubted if they could take care of business. Since THEY DID and in a very momentous way.

In fact, OKC had the game basically won by halftime. Nuggets led 2-0 at the start and it was all downhill from there. The Thunder cooked Denver to a crisp as they set the NBA Playoff record for most points in a half with 87 points. Something basketball fans have not really seen since eight years ago during the playoffs. And in this particular OKC game, the blowout only got worse.
In the first half, Oklahoma City got it done with multiple players. Six different guys straight up did WORK. To rack up all of those 87 points in two quarters, six players were in double figures. Wow.
The Thunder’s 149 points is also a franchise playoffs record. But the job is not done. Series is tied. SGA said it best after the game, “Winning by 100 or winning by 2, it’s 1-1.” Yep, there’s more games to be played. Next one, is on Friday.
