Nuggets Nikola Jokić Adds to Triple-Double Record While Denver Extends Win Streak
The MVP race continues to tighten as the season ticks down to completion. Several players are making a strong case for the prestigious award; demonstrating that if they were removed from their team’s roster, their franchise just would not be at the same level without their presence on the court. Nikola is one such player. Doing things we haven’t seen in the league ever. Case in point, the Nuggets Nikola Jokić adds on to his triple-double record while Denver extends its win streak.
When you think triple-double, Russell Westbrook most likely comes to mind. And for good reason, he has been a triple-double machine throughout his career. However, there is a new king emerging of this stat in Nikola Jokić. Nikola Jokic is now 12 triple-doubles away from passing Russ for the most in NBA history. As the NBA on ESPN explained,
“Nikola Jokic notched his 89th career triple-double through three quarters against the Grizzlies.
That’s 30 more than any other player since play-by-play was first tracked in 1997-98.”
ESPN Insights then added this tidbit during its nightly broadcast regarding the Denver Nuggets in the Nikola era. The sports network reported,
“The Nuggets also just notched their longest win streak in the Jokic era (since 2015-16).
Prior to tonight, Denver hadn’t reached a 10-game win streak since 2013. Twenty other NBA franchises have posted at least one double-digit win streak since Denver last did.”

Speaking of 10-game streaks, OptaStats decided to go ham and up the ante with another wild fun fact. The statistics platform revealed, “There have been over 1.4 million total 10-game spans by players in NBA history, including playoffs. In none of them did a player have as many points, rebounds and assists as Nikola Jokić during the Nuggets’ current 10-game winning streak (252 points, 145 rebounds, 127 assists).”
WOW. Nikola is definitely one of the best to play the game. That’s why he’s been in the MVP conversation all season. Simply amazing.
