He’s injured but he was on the court to contribute his talents. Yes, the Nuggets Aaron Gordon played in Game 7 against OKC with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. And gave it his very all.
Gordon knows all about being in the trenches in order to help his team win. Aaron was a part of the squad in 2023 that helped Denver win its first championship ever. However, this time it is way different. Gordon found himself in a win or go home situation without being 100% healthy.
On Friday, the Denver Nuggets forward had been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain. Due such a development his status was in serious doubt for Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But two days later the tune rapidly changed. As seconds ticked ever closer to game time, another official update came flying into the picture.
On Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Gordon’s playing status for Game 7. And once more confirmed Aaron’s hamstring injury. Charania states,
“Denver’s Aaron Gordon has a Grade 2 hamstring strain and needs several weeks to recover from the injury, sources tell ESPN. The Nuggets’ playoff star has been searching for ways to play in today’s Game 7 against Oklahoma City, but it is becoming physically improbable to do so.
[However, an hour before the game sources reveal] Aaron Gordon will play and start in Game 7 for the Nuggets against the Thunder, source tells ESPN, gutting out a Grade 2 hamstring strain that requires weeks to heal. All on the line in Game 7.”

And play he did. With about three minutes left in the second quarter; and after playing 16 minutes. In the first half Gordon had put up 8 points with 9 rebounds. Quite impressive for someone dealing with a hamstring injury.
NBA analyst Leo Rautins also was wowed by how Gordon performed. He took to social media to say,
“Love how Aaron Gordon plays the game! None of the drama normally exhibited when a player is banged up – wanting you to witness their suffering and sacrifice w/grimaces and theatrics – especially when struggling!! Not Gordon – he just plays! Old School.”
Call it grit. Call it determination. But Aaron once more shows why he is a force. Nevertheless, we hope his efforts today do not make his injury worse. And we sincerely hope he heals up quickly.
