Nolan McLean Made Exciting Major League Debut In Victory Over Seattle Mariners
He was taken with the 91st pick by the New York Mets as a two-way player in the third round of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft. The former Oklahoma Sate product was called up from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday to replace Frankie Montas. And to hopefully provide a boost to the talented but struggling pitchers. Enter Nolan McLean who made his exciting major league debut in a victory over the Seattle Mariners. But McLean had to navigate a bit of trouble before he finished dazzling the crowd.
He got off to a great start by striking out the first batter of his career, Randy Arozarena. And followed that with fanning Josh Naylor on a curveball to end the top of the first inning. McLean went on to strike out four of the first 10 batters he faced, including Arozarena twice. But there did occur what could have been real trouble for McLean in the third inning. He walked J.P. Crawford and then he walked Cole Young. After a mound visit, he got the first out, striking out Arozarena for the second time. However, Cal Raleigh then singled on a line drive and loaded the bases.
