NFL Week 12 Early Sunday Action

NFL Week 12 Early Sunday Action

A week of football fun continued Sunday morning. Here is a brief recap of the NFL Week 12 early Sunday action. The Atlanta Falcons pulled even with division rival Atlanta Falcons. Both teams are now 5-6. Two costly turnovers, an interception and a fumble, spelled doom for the Saints as they lost 15-24.

Having lost QB Joe Burrow for the season, the Cincinnati Bengals fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bengals gave up three sacks and were 20% on third down conversions. Pittsburgh’s offense performed slightly better. Nevertheless their production was more efficient than it had been in previous games. It was good enough to get the win, 16-10.

It was an old-fashioned shootout in Houston between the Jaguars and Texans. The Jaguars were looking for some payback having lost to the Texans week 3, 37-17. However, the Texans had no intention of rolling over. Going into the half, the Jaguars had the lead.

But on their opening 3rd quarter possession, Trevor Lawrence was intercepted by Derek Stingley, Jr. Houston then went on to score a touchdown. In the end, kicker Matt Amendola attempted to tie the game with a 58 yard field goal. It was dead center but the ball bounced off the bottom bar of the goal post. And the Jaguars held on for the 24-21 win.

Tampa Bay faced off against the Colts. Each team had an interception that led to a touchdown for their opponent. However, the Colts prevailed against the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers gave up six sacks. But, the strip-sack of Baker Mayfield, as the Buccaneers were driving to try to tie the score, finished them off. Colts won 20-27.

New England lost to the New York Giants. As bad as the Giants have been they still bested the Patriots. Mac Jones was benched again. As awful as the game was the Patriots had a chance to tie it up. But kicker Chad Ryland missed a 35 yard field goal and the Patriots lost 7-10. Yuck!

Tennessee got their fourth win of the season over the Carolina Panthers. The Titans did enough to win the game but the Panthers aren’t exactly a powerhouse. Carolina gave up four sacks and a fumble that led to a touchdown. Having only won one game this season they clearly will need to make some changes in the off season.

We’ll be back later with a recap of the remaining Sunday slate.
