So Hard Knocks is going to the Big Apple. Well technically training camp is located in Florham Park, NJ. But the point is that the NFL selects the New York Jets for Hard Knocks 2023 edition. For those who don’t know, Hard Knocks is a reality TV sports show which airs on HBO. It documents the training camp of a selected team.
The show first aired in 2001 and the Baltimore Ravens were the first team to be selected. This year the New York Jets are the featured team. The cameras will start rolling when training camp starts on July 19. It’s first episode is likely to air on August 8. Audiences will see inside the nitty gritty of a typical NFL team training camp. In addition, you’ll get an up close look at both the personal and professional lives of the players, coaches and staff.
To make the show even more compelling certain undrafted and journeymen players will be under the spotlight. These are players who are trying hard to make the roster. Their struggles and challenges are closely followed. Audiences can’t help but to be drawn into their stories. Either you love a guy and hope he makes the team. Or you hate a guy and root for him to be cut. Either way emotions can run high which is likely exactly what the show’s producers want.
It’s due to this rather invasive approach that many coaches and players dislike being selected for Hard Knocks. I can understand their reluctance. Having a camera crew following your every move can probably be nerve racking and a bit uncomfortable.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh indicated that the team was not interested in being a part of the show. When asked about being on Hard Knocks, Aaron Rodgers said, “They forced it down our throats and we have to deal with it.” I think it’s safe to assume the Jets are less than thrilled to be on Hard Knocks!
However, we fans expect to see plenty of action, arguments, and maybe some hands thrown. So as Terrell Owens once said, “Get your popcorn!” Or we can follow the advice of former Jets head coach Rex Ryan and “Let’s go eat a g** d*** snack!” See you at camp LOL.
