NFL Named Active And Retired Players To Announce 2025 Draft Selections

Can you believe the 2025 NFL Draft is only a week away? Neither can I but that time is upon us. The draft will be taking place this year in Green Bay Wisconsin. This will be the first time since 1940 that the draft will be held in Wisconsin. In 1940 it was held in Milwaukee but this time it will be Green Bay. Today the NFL named the active and retired players who are to announce the 2025 draft selections. The first round will begin on Thursday night, April 24, and continues Friday, April 25, with Rounds 2-3. The Draft will conclude on Saturday, April 26, with Rounds 4-7.

The league is definitely going with a Wisconsin themed agenda as indicated by some of their selections. For instance, on Thursday night, Green Bay Packers Legends Mason Crosby, Ahman Green, James Jones, Clay Matthews and Jordy Nelson will be on-site to help Commissioner Roger Goodell to officially open the 2025 NFL Draft. They also have four NFL Legends (Hall of Famers) expected to be on-site two of whom are former Green Bay Packers.

The four Legends are Jerry Kramer (Green Bay Packers, Class of 2018), Dave Robinson (Green Bay Packers, Class of 2013),Lynn Swann (Pittsburgh Steelers, Class of 2001) and Joe Thomas (Cleveland Browns, Class of 2023).

And the college aspect has been included in the Wisconsin theme. There will be 13 day-two announcers announcers who attended the University of Wisconsin. Some of them are Lee Evans the school’s all-time leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns(representing the Buffalo Bills). As well as four of the school’s top six all-time leading rushers – Jonathan Taylor (Indianapolis Colts), Montee Ball (Denver Broncos), Melvin Gordon (Los Angeles Chargers) and James White (New England Patriots).

One last note about Wisconsin is that seven of the presenters were born in Wisconsin. They are Seven of the presenters were born in the state of Wisconsin, including Travis Frederick (Sharon), Melvin Gordon (Kenosha), Alec Ingold (Green Bay), Tim Krumrie (Menomonie), Ryan Ramczyk (Stevens Point), Joe Thomas (Brookfield) and Stu Voigt (Madison).

Homage will also be paid to the 2000 Draft Class in honor of the 25th anniversary. Seven of the former draftees will announce their clubs selections. They are:

John Abraham (New York Jets), Shaun Alexander (Seattle Seahawks), Keith Bulluck (Tennessee Titans), Dante Hall (Kansas City Chiefs), Julian Peterson (San Francisco 49ers), T.J. Slaughter (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Dez White (Chicago Bears).

Last year’s draft broke the attendance record with over 775,000 enthusiastic fans in Detroit, MI. Can Green Bay break that record? We’ll find out soon enough but more importantly we’ll know who the young men are that will make up the 2025 Draft Class.
