NFL Fined Eagles DT Jalen Carter $57,222 For His Incident With Dak Prescott
This season has definitely started with plenty of action. Wild comebacks, one hand catches, exciting rookies and dynamic touchdowns. And of course, the saliva directed toward Dallas’ QB seen flying through the air around the entire globe. As everyone knew, the league would investigate and decide what disciplinary action would be taken. On Tuesday a ruling was handed down; the NFL fined the Eagles DT Jalen Carter $57,222 for his incident with Dak Prescott.
Adam Schefter took to X to report on the Carter situation. He mentions,
“[The] NFL is fining Eagles DT Jalen Carter $57,222 for spitting on Dak Prescott. The league also says the game he was ejected for will serve as a one-game suspension. “After talking to the Eagles, the NFL and the NFLPA, Jalen has decided not to appeal and focus on the Chiefs game,” said Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Jalen Carter makes $57,222 per week, which is how the NFL arrived at the fine it did.”

The National Football League also released a statement regarding Carter. It detailed their ruling and what factors led to it. As well as what they expect from players all season. The NFL states,
“Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles has been suspended without pay for one game for his act of unsportsmanlike conduct in last Thursday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Because Carter was disqualified before participating in a single play, the suspension is considered to have been served in Week 1 and he will forfeit his game check.
The NFL Players Association has informed the NFL that Carter will not contest the discipline and has waived his right to appeal. He is eligible to participate in the club’s Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
League rules prohibiting unsportsmanlike conduct are of vital importance to everyone involved in the game. The NFL has been clear with players, clubs, and the NFLPA that it plans to place particular emphasis on sportsmanship this season.”
Therefore, with the suspension considered served in Week 1, Philadelphia’s Carter will just forfeit a game check; and will be eligible to play in Week 2. So then, all parties can now put this behind them and move on. Jalen Carter will next play Sunday as the Eagles take on the Chiefs; a Super Bowl rematch.
