New York Mets Defeat Phillies in Game 3 of NLDS With Multiple Home Runs
Game 2 was one for the books. Therefore, everyone was looking forward to a slugfest for Game 3. And some slugging did occur; just mainly on New York’s side. On Tuesday, the New York Mets Defeat the Phillies in Game 3 of the NLDS with multiple home runs.
To just make things simple, the Phillies pitching just could not keep the Mets’ bats silent. New York was in the driver’s seat of this matchup and in full control. The Mets got off to a riveting start with yet another Pete Alonso smash, making the scoreboard read 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Two innings later New York world rinse and repeat. This time it was Jesse Winker’s turn to go yard. And he did. Score now 2-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Phillies’ Aaron Nola got himself into a major bind. A bases loaded situation with no outs. Not good.
The Phillies manager Rob Thomson makes a change on the mound from Nola to Orion Kerkering. At first, Kerkering is stellar. He manages to get two outs, not allowing any runs. There looks to be a slight light at the end of the tunnel. But then disaster, a Starling Marte single leads to runs coming on home. It’s 4-0.
Furthermore, the Mets just keep piling on assurance runs in the seventh inning. Thanks to some walks and singles New York tacks on two. Scoreboard now states 6-0. The Phillies seriously have some work to do if they wish to comeback. Plus, with Sean Manaea pitching an absolute gem; the road to victory is slim.

Unfortunately for their fans, Philadelphia is unable to make a stand. The Mets big bats prove to be to much to overcome in the final innings of Game 3. By the time all is said and done, New York wins 7-2.
Furthermore, team Grimace also achieved a historic milestone tonight. According to Sarah Langs:
“The Mets now have 13 runs in the 8th & 9th inning this postseason only team with MORE in their first 6 games of a PS: 1936 NYY: 16.
Other [teams] w/13: 2018 HOU, 2015 KC, 2005 HOU, 1964 NYY.”
Nice. The Mets now lead the series 2-1. And will have the chance to finish off the Phillies and move on to the NLCS when Philadelphia and New York plays again tomorrow.
