New York Jets Are Trading Zach Wilson to Denver Broncos
Just days out from the 2024 NFL Draft, we have a little more trading action going on. This time between the New York Jets and Denver Broncos. The Jets are trading Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos and it includes a late round pick swap.
The Broncos are in need of a quarterback; after Russell Wilson went to the Pittsburgh Steelers. There had been some “friction” between head coach, Sean Payton and Wilson. However, both parties were able to part, with Russell finding a new home with Mike Tomlin and crew.
Nonetheless, now Payton must feel that Zach will be the “Wilson” that will get the job done in the fashion that he wants. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, revealed pertinent information in regards to the trade. He reports,
“Former Jets starting QB and No. 2 pick Zach Wilson is on the move. Sources say he’s being traded to the Broncos, hoping for a fresh start.
The deal includes a late-round pick swap (6th for a 7th) and NYJ will pay some of Wilson’s roughly $5.5M salary.”

Early into the 2023-2024 season, QB starter, Aaron Rodgers went down with a serious injury (torn Achilles). It would of been nice if Zach Wilson could of learned a thing or two while watching Rodgers. However, that’s just not how things played out.
Many fans would agree that Zach struggles to read defenses. So much so, that the good plays often unfortunately, get overshadowed by the bad decisions. Wilson was 12-21 in his time with the Jets, which included multiple benchings. Zach Wilson was the No. 2 overall pick by the Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft; however, as this trade clearly indicates, the Zach era is over over and the Jets are ready to move on.
Could the Jets O-line have been better for Wilson? Definitely. However, Zach also just did not perform at his best.
Therefore, this change in scenery may be the best thing for Wilson. He gets a fresh start. A new beginning. And we get to see if Sean Payton’s decision making can right the Broncos ship and get on the course to a championship.
