New York Giants and New Orleans Saints Lose Key Players
The big man likes to be called “Sexy Dexy” and is a big presence on the field. The other is a tight end that has been a key piece of the offense for years. Both were injured during their Week 13 games. As a result both the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints will lose key players on their teams. There is Dexter “sexy dexy” Lawrence, the big nose tackle for the New York Giants. And Taysom Hill the long-time tight end for the New Orleans Saints.
Lawrence was placed on injured reserve and will be out for at least four weeks. He suffered a dislocated left elbow in the Giants’ Thanksgiving Day loss in Dallas. However, since there are only five games beginning Sunday against the New Orleans Saints his return this season seems unlikely. But for Hill, he suffered a torn ACL and additional damage to his knee and will be out for the rest of the season. Hill was carted off the field with fewer than five minutes remaining after he collided into a pair of Rams defenders on a run.
So how will the Giants operate without their vocal and inspirational leader of the defense? One Giants player had this to say:
“I think, the reality of it is we’re going to miss him,” said outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux. “But this is going to be a great test and a great evaluation on everybody around him, the back end, the front end. We all kind of got to each step up to the plate, knowing that one of our top guys isn’t there anymore. As far as leadership goes, it’s up to us in the front end and the back end to continue to step up, where he’s now missing.”

Hill is 34 years old and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He had already missed four games earlier in the year because of chest and rib injuries. But when healthy, Hill was a key part of New Orleans’ offense. Now he’ll have to decide whether he wants to keep playing in the NFL. Hill said last month that he was unsure of how long he intends to keep playing.
Hill received praise from interim head coach Darren Rizzi:
“There’s not a guy I could sit here and tell you I could compare him to,” said interim coach Darren Rizzi, who told reporters Hill would receive a second opinion. “Listen, it’s a big loss.”
We’ll see how each team handles their loss as the season comes to an end.
