New Uniforms Unveiled By Detroit Lions
A grand affair took place at Ford Field on Thursday this week. It was a Lions Loyal Member-exclusive in which new uniforms were unveiled by the Detroit Lions. Legends Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson also attended the event. The new uniforms are meant to convey a combination of the team’s modern era and the legacy of the franchise.
Some of the players took part in a uniform media day photo shoot back on March 6, including Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Both the Lions and Ford Motor Company have a long and rich history with the city of Detroit. Therefore, it’s not surprising that the Bronco SUV served as a muse for the team. Taking a classic look and creating a sharper interpretation for the modern era. Ultimately, the uniforms draw the connection between the team and the hardworking, passionate community the Lions represent.
Detroit Lions President & CEO, Rod Wood further commented,
“We are excited to launch a new era of Lions football. Honolulu Blue and Silver has defined the Detroit Lions for generations and I am proud that we found a way to continue to evolve the look with a nod to the past and a focus on the future. The traditional look of our primary jerseys combined with the bold attitude of our alternate jerseys capture the essence of Detroit and the multi-generational fans base that supports us.”
As for the uniforms, the primary home and road uniforms will feature all three of the teams’ classic colors. The jerseys can be worn with the silver pant adorned with blue and white striping down the leg. Or with three unadorned pant options – silver, blue or white.

There will also be an alternate black jersey featuring blue classic numbers wrapped in a silver outline on a black background and striping in blue and silver on the sleeves. The black jersey can be paired with either an all-black pant or the team’s blue pant. Legend has it that head coach Dan Campbell played a role in bringing back the classic black look.
The team will continue to wear their classic silver helmet with the leaping lion. They’ll also have the alternate matte blue helmet with the black leaping lion. And their classic all-silver helmet with a silver facemask or with their new blue facemask.
Whew I guess variety is the spice of life! And the Lions will have plenty of new looks to sport this upcoming season.
