NBA Opening Week And Christmas Schedules Have Been Announced By ESPN And ABC
Summertime used to be the quiet part of the sports schedule with primarily professional baseball grabbing all the headlines. However, the WNBA has recently roared to life and is busy grabbing headlines of its own. And of course the end of summer leads to the NFL training camps and preseason games. Well it seams that the NBA would like to get in on the act. Because the NBA Opening Week and Christmas Schedules have been announced by ESPN and ABC.
ESPN has been the longstanding broadcast partner of the NBA as they enter their 24th consecutive season. ESPN is where you tune in to see the premier matchups of the league. So of course Opening Week would feature the reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder. They will meet up with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. That’s where most of the other Opening Week games will premier, as indicated on the chart below.

And then there is the Christmas slate of games that will be jam-packed. On that day, when hopefully people are getting some rest, there will be FIVE games to partake in from noon to night. You can catch those games on ESPN or ABC.

So in just 70 days the 2025-26 NBA season will start with a doubleheader from NBC. The 80th NBA season tips off on Oct. 21 on NBC in the same place last season ended – Oklahoma City – as reigning Kia MVP and NBA Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder raise the 2024-25 championship banner and receive their championship rings before hosting Kevin Durant and the new-look Rockets.
The complete 2025-26 NBA on ESPN regular season schedule will be announced on Thursday. So mark your calendars and buckle up as you get yourself prepared for the new NBA season!
