National Football League Honors Shined Brightly
Being held in Las Vegas added more glitz and glamour to the annual event. The National Football League Honors shined brightly with the biggest stars of the League in attendance. Former players along with actors were also on the Red Carpet like Kurt Warner and Justin Hartley.
Below are the awards given out on the Red Carpet:
Best Dressed – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Cleveland Browns He represented his African culture all season long. Both teammates and fans alike appreciated him doing so.
Assistant Coach of the Year Award – Jim Schwartz, Cleveland Browns Defensive Coordinator – Schwartz was thankful to have coached special players over his career.
Some of the attendees interviewed on the Red Carpet were Cameron Heyward, Jerry Jones, Joe Flacco, Maxx Crosby, and Damar Hamlin.
After all the excitement of the Red Carpet the award ceremony began. The host of the show was comedian Keegan-Michael Key of Key & Peele. Ray Lewis paid a moving tribute to the great Jim Brown along with the In Memorium of those lost this past year. The list included Dick Butkus, Carl Weathers, Ryan Mallett, Gil Brandt, and Sean Dawkins. There was also some entertainment reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil provided.
But anyway, without further ado here is the list of award winners:
- Most Valuable Player – Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
- Coach of the Year – Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland Browns
- Comeback Player of the Year – Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns
- Offensive Player of the Year – Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers
- Defensive Player of the Year – Miles Garrett, Cleveland Browns
- Offensive Rookie of the Year – C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
- NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year – Will Anderson, Jr., Houston Texans
- Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year– Cameron Heyward, Pittsburgh Steelers
National Football League Honors Shined Brightly
Other awards were the Fedex Air & Ground Players of the Year which went to Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey also picked up the Joe Brown Award. Joe Cardona, Patriots long snapper earned the Salute to Service award. T.J. Watt was the Deacon Jones Sack Leader winner. And the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award went to Bobby Wagner.
So it appears the Texans, Browns, and 49ers were well-represented in this year’s Honors. And it was the 2nd MVP award for Lamar Jackson. The 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class was announced. We’ll talk more about that later.
